Born and raised on a farm in Central Indiana, Dean’s Midwest values of determination and hard work served as a foundation for his successful business career. After high school, where he lettered in baseball and basketball, he was drafted into the US Army. After basic combat training he was sent to Germany where his unit was responsible for security along the border of the fabled “Fulda Gap”, the common border between East and West Germany. Separation from active duty, he returned to Muncie, Indiana, where he served in the Army Reserve Program and retired after 20 + years of service, filling various assignments in Finance, Personnel, Operations and as an instructor of military subjects in Personnel and NBC Graduating from Ball State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, he chose the Life Insurance industry and began his career as a producing agent. Continuing his education and fulfilling the requirements for a Property and Casualty insurance license, he was asked serve as an instructor of various insurance courses as was a quest lecturer at Ball State University. Dean served as President of the East Central Indiana Life Underwriters Association and was on the Board of Directors of Muncie, Indiana Jaycees. He has served as a District Camping Chairman, a Cub Master and a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America, and has full filled various capacities in his church affiliation.
When Dean relocated to Arizona, he passed the Arizona Department of Real Estate Licensing requirements in 1975 and started his real estate career with Denton Real Estate in Tucson, Arizona, working principally with small to medium commercial properties. Feeling the pulled of his former farm live, he moved his family to a small rural community in Southeastern Arizona. His real estate activity included farm and ranch brokerage and the assemblage of vacant land parcels as a package for various investors. In 1984 he became licensed as a Real Estate Broker and operated his own real estate agency.
